If you've felt that sharp twinge in your knees during floor exercises, or found yourself avoiding workouts because hard surfaces leave you sore, a thicker mat can make all the difference. The Gaiam Essentials Thick Yoga Mat is built specifically for comfort on unforgiving floors, offering the cushioning that makes low-impact workouts genuinely enjoyable.
Extra Cushioning Where It Matters
At 10mm thick, this mat delivers meaningful shock absorption for your joints. Whether you're doing Pilates, yoga, stretching, or floor exercises, that extra cushioning reduces pressure on your knees, hips, and lower back—especially important if you're working out on tile, concrete, or wood floors at home. The high-density NBR foam strikes a balance between support and plush comfort, making it practical for beginners and anyone favoring low-impact movement.
Designed for Everyday Use
- Textured surface that grips well during dry workouts, helping you stay stable without constant slipping
- Easy maintenance—just wipe it down with a damp cloth after use
- Low-odor foam that may have a slight new-mat smell, but typically clears within a day or two of airing out
- Lightweight and portable with an included carrying strap, so you can move it between rooms or take it to a class
Perfect for Your Home Fitness Space
This mat works well for yoga, Pilates, physical therapy, core work, stretching, and general fitness routines. If you've been hesitating to start a home practice because your floors are hard, or if you're recovering from an injury and need extra support, the thickness and cushioning here address those real concerns. It's a straightforward mat that prioritizes comfort and joint protection over minimalist firmness.
