Strange are the attitudes of Man, who born of a woman treats her with utter contempt, if she bears him daughters only. He is under the obsession that the name of his family and dynasty is known and continued by the male child only. So, when Thakur Chandra Prakash Singh's wife Sharda, is expecting for the fourth time after having three daughters gets an ultimatum: if she bears another girl, Thakur will bring a second wife. Sharda panics, resulting in a premature delivery. The Thakur is overjoyed that Sharda has given birth to a baby boy (Vishal) atlast! He lavishes all his love, care and wealth on bringing up his son. Vishal grows up to be handsome youngman and falls in love with with Ruby Miranda who studies on a scholarship and does part-time work as a librarian to support her father. The Thakur puts his foot down at his alliance. Vishal rebels and soon, happy times and a blissful togetherness are shattered Nerve shattering and heart-rending events follow in quick succession. The follies of the Thakur's dogmas and obstinacy, his dream of the great vansh - all lie in ruins before him. The spectre of Vishal's death shakes him to the bones and as truth dawns on him, the mighty Thakur struck by an on rush of realities is suddenly dislodged from his high pedestal.

About the Actor

Rishi Kapoor, known as Chintu, was born on 4th September 1952 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India to the first family of Bollywood. His parents were the film-maker Raj Kapoor and Krishna. His brothers were actors Randhir Kapoor and Rajiv Kapoor while his grandfather was Prithviraj Kapoor. Rishi Kapoor married actress Neetu Singh in 1980. They have two children Ranbir and Ridhima. Ranbir Kapoor was launched as an actor in Bollywood with Saawariya. He got an early start in movies, having been born into a family of film-makers. He starred in the poignant Mera Naam Joker (1970), playing his fathers role as a boy. His performance won him the National Film Award for Best Child Artist. Three years later, he was seen as the lead in Bobby (1973). In 2008, he won the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award. Bobby (1973), which saw a much leaner Rishi Kapoor with Dimple Kapadia, was hugely successful. The movie was directed by Raj Kapoor. He won the Filmfare Best Actor Award for his role as Raj Nath. The remake of Hollywood hit Some Like It Hot called Rafoo Chakra (1975) saw him as a musician who witnesses a murder. It also starred Neetu Singh. They were seen together in Khel Khel Mein (1975).
